I had good intentions, and a good plan, for NaNoWriMo this year. But as I moved forward with the story, I found it harder to actually say anything. I'm not sure what the problem was. It could have been an unwillingness to work through the story fully. It could be that a novel is not something I am good at, or maybe this is not an idea that works for a novel; it has the feeling, as I think of it now, of a short story. A novella at best.

Plus there is the stress of unemployment. That kind of strangles creativity. And while I was not going anywhere with the NaNoWriMo story, I was getting other work done. Things that are, to be honest, far more important to me. Including getting another chapter outlined of my graphic novel, the one I really care about. So maybe even though my NaNoWriMo 2010 experience lasted but a week, perhaps it jump-started other things. I can live with that.
